Driving a commercial motor vehicle means long, hard hours on the road. Therefore, keeping the roads safer is a goal for everyone, but most especially for companies who hire commercial drivers or medical personnel that require drug-free testing and physicals to meet high safety standards.

About the Exam

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has updated the Department of Transportaion (DOT) regulations to better reflect the physical demands drivers face and to help them be safer on the job. The new regulations require all medical examiners performing DOT physicals to:

  • Be trained and certified in the FMCSA standards.
  • Report exam results monthly to the FMCSA.

Our examiners are fully trained, tested, and certified specifically in relation and adherence to FMCSA new guidelines. Our DOT physical testing goal is to ensure medical driver safety, while getting drivers back on the road.

What to expect

Your thorough physical exam will last around 20 to 30 minutes and consists of the following:

  • Medical background
  • Vision screening
  • Hearing screening
  • Height and weight readings
  • Blood pressure
  • Pulse
  • Breathing rate
  • Temperature
  • Urinalysis
  • Additional testing as appropriate

Please have any specialized medical cards or documentation requests available at the time of your visit. A medical examiner’s certificate will be provided at appointment completion.
